I've been thinking about how much I believe in doll purity, but also how some accessories designed for one doll can be used for another and still be time/story appropriate.
For example-Marisol's tap shoes can be used with Molly's Miss Victory outfit. They never made her tap shoes-they should have!
Molly's school desk can also be used as Kit's school desk, since Kit's rolltop desk is her home desk. The school desks look pretty much the same in both Kit's and Molly's books.
If they made a ballet folklorico outfit for Marisol, maybe Josefina would have worn something like that in her time.
The Mary Janes that come with Molly, Samantha and Nellie can also be worn by Kit, since those shoes were popular in the 1930s. BTW, I can't understand why Samantha doesn't come with black high-button shoes like in her meet picture, instead of those boring old black Mary Janes.
I feel like if I were to buy one of these things I'm getting my money's worth because they apply to more than one doll. Can you guys think of any other examples of how this doll sharing thing might work?
I think Kit and Molly can share some of the same outfits. I actually gave Kit Molly's puppy tale dress b/c my MOlly has the white body and since the dress is lower cut it looks funny on her. I think the Puppy tale dress looks really cute on Kit and seems to fit in with her time period.
I've also used ADdy's boots on Sam just to get the high buttoned boots look. I've been meaning to buy some from some other doll store eventually. Maybe someday.

Addy likes to borrow Josefina's riding boots to go with her striped dress.
I know people today that are still using stoneware dishes similar to Kirsten's so those are used by all of my dolls. [img]smile.gif[/img]
Nightgowns for Kirsten and Addy work for all the dolls.

My Ruthie, who is half Depression era girl and half modern, loves wearing Kit's outfits. Also, Molly and Kit can definitely share. Kit and Molly both love Kit's meet top and Molly's aviator pants as one outfit!
Also, Kit can use Samantha's desk. In Kit's school story in the "Peek into the Past" section, it shows a Great Depression classroom with desks like Sam's.
When I get Kit, she will have both her stuff and some of Molly's, since I'm not getting Molly. They are so similar in many ways, and between Kit's separates and Molly's, so many outfits can be made!
Many shoes and socks can be shared between Kirsten, Addy, and Samantha.
I figure Samantha can use Felicity's table and chairs, and Kit can use either Felicity's or Addy's. They would be "antiques." Especially since those dolls don't have dining room tables and chairs, just the patio furniture.
I don't remember whose album this was in, but someone had a Kirsten wearing Addy's Cape Island dress. It was soooo cute on her! I love pink on Kirsten, and she and Addy both wear pantalettes, so they could share! I am thinking about getting that dress for my Kirsten. Thanks to whoever posted that pic in their album!! I'm a total non-purist, I think...lol. I have to say that I think Addy's kite flying dress looks better on Kirsten and that Kirsten's workdress looks better on Addy, so they traded. I also use Molly's meet skirt with Kit's Tree House outfit, since it's the right color and it wears a little better than the tree house skirt. Those are my favorite trades. Oh, and Josefina's summer dress looks amazing on Kaya.
Yep, my Kirsten is trading with my Addy. Addy will get Kirsten's midsummer dress, and Kirsten will get Addy's Kite-flying dress. They'll each keep their own accessories. [img]smile.gif[/img]
